This super-automatic unit from Delonghi is a multi operational automatic personal coffee maker that will give you all of the following:

• espresso
• cappuccino
• latte

Brewing
It has been designed with a special “beans to brew” function that actually grinds your coffee beans before you brew it although you have the option of using pre-ground coffee too. This creates that wonderful just-made espresso aroma which is what you want from your machine – guaranteed too!
The grinder lets you choose between fineness settings depending on how you like your beans which is an important option. The manufacturers claim that the grinder is quiet but some of the reviews on Amazon talk about that there is some noise from those customer’s units; it may not be that quiet but it depends on how important that is to you. Mostly I think it isn’t that important as long as it doesn’t sound like it is going to explode!

Coffee making
The bean container will hold 7 ounces and used coffee can be removed easily and disposed of. The “cappuccino” system is a patented “frother” and will mix milk and steam to create that frothiness and creaminess in all the lattes and cappuccinos you could want. You can make any sort of creamy milky drink with this. The system rotates 180 degrees so you can fit in any size of milk container without a struggle or tilting and so on plus the spigot height can be adjusted for loads of different sized mugs and cups – a nice option.

Inside
Temperature is often a concern for buyers of coffee machines, we’ve all experienced machines that say it’s going to be hot when it actually is mostly warm but not piping. This DeLonghi has a very compact stainless steel double boiler which has been designed for excellent heat distribution, what they call “thermo-block” technology and will produce the “perfect espresso at the ideal temperature” every time due to its instant reheat facility. The boiler is removable too which makes cleaning the unit pretty simple – this is a big plus.

Technical bits
The controls of the unit are at the front and allow you to choose between one cup for a mug or espresso or two for two mugs worth or two espressos. You can also adjust the amount of water used and the brew strength which gives you a lot of tweaking for personal taste.

Size
The Magnifica will sit on your kitchen top quite nicely as it dimensions are 15 x 11 x 14 inches and weighs 26 pounds and it has a 60 ounce removable water tank which means you don’t have to move the machine each time you need to refill.

This is a great machine to have for the family or workplace where it will see a lot of action. It’s in the higher price bracket and marketed towards serious coffee drinkers but all in all a good quality coffee maker.
